9 Valentine's Day Accessories to Spice Up Your Look

9 Valentine's Day Accessories to Spice Up Your Look

Although the weather has been dreary, and our New Years’ resolutions are starting to fade slowly into oblivion, there is always something to look forward to in the month of February: Valentine’s Day. For some, it may feel like a day to celebrate your singleness (which should be celebrated, for the record), but that doesn’t mean you can’t get all dressed up and take yourself on a date. So, whether you’ll be spending love day with your S/O, your family, a friend, or lovely-ol’ you, take it as an opportunity to get all gussied up and looking your best. And I’ve got some accessory options to add to your look to ensure that happens:

EARRINGS

Statement earrings have been HUGE for me recently because they are a super-duper easy way to add some flare to an outfit without overcomplicating it. A big bold earring stands out enough to help make it look like you put a ton of thought into your outfit, but all you did was swap out whichever ones you wear on the reg. I used to never change out my earrings, so it comes as more of a nice surprise whenever I do! Bonus: I like to mix and match metals for a more modern look. Pairing silver and gold or rose gold makes for a trendy and flirty combination. You also don’t have to opt for pink or red either. I love the pale, more neutral tones in all of these earrings I got from H&M (4 sets for only $20!).

NECKLACES

Your accessories for Valentine’s Day don’t always have to be in the shape of a heart. I personally like flowers and think that they are just as feminine and pretty. If you want to feel more festive, you can wear them in pinks or reds to stay in the realm of Valentine’s Day. A fun way to spice up a classic heart is to pick something with a little more style or dazzle. Interlocking hearts, hearts with swirls or stones, something engraved; have fun with all the options you have around this time of year! And if you want to keep it basic, but still want to sparkle, a jeweled halo like this one from Jewlr is the perfect addition to your outfit. Your date won’t be able to keep their eyes off of your shining self.

HAIR

If you prefer to wear your jewels or accessories in your hair, here are a few fun picks for you to choose from. It’s no secret that barrettes and hairpins are very on-trend lately, so have fun mixing and matching. Pair a pearl barrette with some rhinestone bobby pins, or these celestial pins from Mimi & Ko Jewels. Plus they’ll keep the hair out of your face while you’re enjoying whatever Valentine’s escapades you get up to. Channel your inner Blair Walfdorf with a satin, velvet, or bejeweled headband, or look effortless with a colourful and feminine headscarf hair-tie. The options are endless!

Shout out to Adrian for shooting these awesome product photos. We celebrated Valentine’s Day yesterday, as I’ll be in Hawaii by the 14th, but I’d love to know what your plans are for love day! Let me know in the comments what you have in mind for your special someone (and that can be your cat, absolutely NO SHAME). If you need some ideas, check this out.
