The Best Beach-Ready Bathers for 2019

The Best Beach-Ready Bathers for 2019

It has taken me many years to become more confident and comfortable in my own skin, but I will admit I still have a ways to go. Some days I feel bloated and uncomfortable, and some days I’m really feelin’ myself. This is especially so when I’m on the beach, showing off more skin than usual. There are, however, ways to nudge myself closer to a day where I’m feeling and looking good. One way to do that is by properly styling clothes on my body to reflect how I want to look and feel. When you wear poorly fitting clothing (especially bathing suits..), it just makes you feel worse. However, when you wear outfits that flatter and better suit your body type, you can accentuate parts that you love and detract from parts that you don’t. I, for example, love my long legs, so I like to wear high-leg, high-waisted bathing suits that show them off. Figure out what body parts you love and find garments that highlight your fave features.

As I was just on vacation, I had a chance to do some bathing suit shopping and find suits that actually fit properly. While I was picking out my items, I noticed two solid trends. Not trendy-trends like things that will only be cute in 2019, but rather, trends in the suits that I was gravitating towards and adding to my cart. I found that I favoured one-piece bathing suits and retro style bikinis with killer high waists. Most people complain about holding weight in their mid-section, so by opting for a one-piece or high waisted suit, you can (as I mentioned before) detract from the parts you don’t like, while still looking glam.

ONE PIECE SUITS

We typically associate one piece suits with professional swimming or our parents. They are more modest styles, and can sometimes look pretty boring. But, think again! One piece suits are making a come-back in a pretty big way. We’re seeing fun cut-outs, funky patterns, and cute accessories to pair with them to take the suit a step further. Pick something fun that highlights your fave assets (if you know what I mean..lol). I love black because it’s super slimming, so I usually find something with a cute strappy design to make it more dynamic and interesting. I also noticed that retro styles in particular (see bikinis below) are making a resurgence. Think Pam Anderson and Marilyn Monroe-esque silhouettes. Check out some of my other picks above!

HIGH-WAIST BIKINIS

When I still want to wear/style two pieces, I’ll reach for a high-waisted bikini. Reason being, like I said before, I hold weight around my midsection and a high waist covers that right up! It’s still fresh, modern, and young looking, but way more flattering on my body than an itsy-bitsy teeny-weeny string bikini would be. Opt for thicker cuts that lay flat against your body, rather than thin ones that tend to cut in where you wish they wouldn’t.. 2019 should be all about body positivity, so let’s find us some suits that we LOVE to rock poolside.

Where do you get your swim suits? And what are your fave cuts to wear? Maybe you actually prefer an itty-bitty bather, that’s OK! And if you want to save on some super cute suits like these, head on over to pointbreakapparel.ca and use my code “ZOE20” for 20% off the whole site. Get the Alice Retro Bikini and we can be twins! Happy shopping, friends.
